How to perform the "Traction-Shift Test"?

• With the patient’s forearm and wrist supported by the examiner with one hand, the examiner’s other hand grasps the head of the patient’s first metacarpal, applies traction to the metacarpal, and extends the patient’s thumb. 
• At the same time, the examiner’s thumb applies pressure to the dorsal aspect of the base of the first metacarpal

What is the positive result?

• A positive test is indicated by crepitus and pain and is an indication of arthritis.

• Specificity: 100%
