What is the "Boyes Test" used for?

  • Extensor hood Central Slip Injuries

How to perform the "Boyes Test"?

  • The examiner holds the finger to be examined in slight extension at the proximal interphalangeal joint. 
  • The patient is then asked to flex the distal interphalangeal joint.

What is the positive result?

  • If the patient is unable or has difficulty flexing the distal interphalangeal joint, it is considered a positive test.
