Pollock Sign

What is the "Pollock Sign" used for?

• This is a test of the flexor digitorum profundus muscle following an ulnar nerve injury

How to perform the "Pollock Sign"?

• The examiner asks the patient to hook the little finger of both hands
• The patient is then asked to pull the two fingers apart while trying to keep the distal phalanges flexed.

What is the positive result?

• If the flexor digitorum profundus muscle is weak due to ulnar nerve injury, the distal and middle phalanges on the affected side will extend.
